Leon Botstein (1946 – )

He graduated at age 16 from New York’s High School of Music and Art. He earned his B.A. from the U. of Chicago and his Ph.D. from Harvard. At 23, he became the youngest college president in U.S. history, leading Franconia College from 1970-1975. Since 1975, he has been the president of Bard College, while maintaining a critically acclaimed career as conductor of the American Symphony Orchestra and the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra.
