Alan Kotok (1941 – 2006)

He attended Vineland High School in New Jersey before entering MIT at the age of 16 in 1958. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree from MIT in electrical engineering. He helped to develop what is often called the first videogame, Spacewar!. He was also part of the team that wrote the Kotok-McCarthy program, which took part in the first chess match between computers. He continued to advance in the world of programming and the Web.
